Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in fame. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream of the album came out in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a the music video. Then on November 9 she dropped two more singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013 she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The song was followed by an accompanying music video that debuted in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in one week. In December 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
